    There's a good explanation of what they're trying, here.

    Basically they're trying to have the show funded by the fans. I'm open to it but is it possible?

    They cant, as far as I remember, Fox still own the rights to a TV show... so I douth it will go ahead.

    Fox refused to give up the name of the show "Firefly", that's why the movie was called Serenity and made no reference to "Firefly". Sci-Fi channel can start a new series but they can't call it "Firefly".
