Stupid Question probably.

    Hello,

this is probably a stupid question but I'm not entirely sure what "registration" means in terms of a poker tourney. I've only played home-tourneys where you buy in with however much money it is and have a re-buy at the same price. Does registration mean just paying to sit down or does it give you your first allotment of chips? I mean do you have to pay to register and then pay again to get chips?

    Thanks.

Registration is when you go to the cash desk and give over your money. You receive a table and seat number, and when you sit down at the table you receive your chips. The registration fee is the cut the house takes. It's normally around ten percent. For example the game in the Fitz on Monday costs €110 to play. €100 of this goes to the prize fund, and €10 is the registration fee.

In a rebuy tournament for example you might have an entry fee of 20+5 with rebuys for 20. Each rebuys will cost the same as the original buy in, but with your original buy in you have to pay a supplement (the reg), in this case a fiver.
