    HELP! :(

I've spent about 2 hours today trying to tune my t-maxx and i cannot get it stay running. It will run for maybe 2 mins then shut off. I've adjusted the idle speed and fuel mixture to every possible combination and the ONLY way i could get the truck running, was to set it SO that when i pinched the fuel line the engine would run for about 40-50 seconds (not the recommended 3 !) and even with that it was hard shut the engine off. I seem to also need to have the idle speed to about 1/8 of a turn away from where it wont shift front to backwards and it's lurching forward when standing idle.

I've read the manual back to front, set and re-set everything again and again and NO luck!

I'm having no fun with this thing at all; if i dont sort it - bye bye tmaxx

What settings are you guys running?

    thanks

    Gary

How much ya want for it ? :D

    LOL
    Nah . seriously though..
What fuel are you using ?
Reason i ask is because my sons T-Maxx was a pig to run ,, kept cutting out etc.... He ran it on Model Technics 16%
I run my Revo on Blue Thunder 20% { available in Hlafords I think } ;)
Well yesterday for the fun of it I ran my sons T-Maxx on the 20% {for a short few minutes until he walloped it} but what i did norice was that it started much easier.. Seemed to run smoother and was waaaay quicker.. ;)

Also I should maybe add that i have had no reason to touch the settings on my carb since i took it out of the box... i know I am gonna have to lean it out a bit etc. but i am gonna wait until I have at least 8 tanks through it first. :D

    16% Tornado fuel

I've so far used more battery juice in my EZ start than fuel

Have you tried putting it back to factory settings and changing the glo plug ?

tornado should be fine to use thats not going to be the problem.
this is going to be a hard one to make a call on without the car infront of me.

the idle needle the fact u say it 1/8 away from not letting u shift front or backward, that does not make much sense as all this screw does is adjusts the idle speed of the engine when it is sitting there doing nothing, if you take of the air filter u should be able to see the gap in the carb this is normally only a few mil wide when at idle.

The lurching forward kinda sounds as if your idle is to high and the clutch on the truck is engaging or at least trying. lower the idle should solve this but check the clutch shoes out make sure everything there is ok and give them a clean out while u have the bell off

stopping the engine, when you are pinching the fuel line are u just sqeezing the line between your fingers ,maybe u are just not closing off the fuel line properly.

hard to say about the needles never had a t maxx , every engine is slightly different what does the manual say to have it at, 3 half on the top end 2 half bottom end

    - changed glow plug
    - Restored factory settings as per manual; even went as far as doing this 4/5 times
    - I pinched that line so hard i thought i'd burst it. Well used to doing it to shut off the engine
    - With regard to having the idle speed so high (to the point the truck would jump forward) it seemed that having the idle speed ANY lower would result in the truck dying straight after stopping the EZ start, or if i didnt instantly give it 1/2 throttle or more on the controller, which usually resulted in the truck dying anyway

As far as I can remember and I'm no expert either, the idle screw has a cam action and doesent actualy lock in either direction, when I reset the carb back to it's original setting I tighten the high speed needle 100% clockwise and then loosen it out 4 turns and set the low speed so its flush with the outer tap ring. Then lean up the high speed needle and usually slighty richen the low speed and when both are set then try to lower the Idle so the truck is not jumping forward.. Although I do loose the rag with it very easy aswell but try to keep calm it usually helps....

I haven't got as far as touching clutch bell's yet, still have to get a spur gear Myself before I can start my one up again...

Its all a learning process, don't give in...;)
