Windows Media Player is a bitch to remove/reinstall. If there is a corrupted codec then it probably wont have been removed.

You could try a "sfc /scannow" on the Start->Run box which may repair any windows files that are corrupted.

You could also try an alternative player to make sure the movies arn't corrupted or discolored. I'd suggest VLC Media Player.

If it turns out that VLC plays it fine, then try to get a WMV codec or whatever from Microsoft :)

Go to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins (or wherever you installed it) check if you have npdsplay.dll in there.

If not, copy it in from C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player
