Homepage - http://www.freebrick.com/

Frode Berge is a Norwegian electronic composer (he's actually a web/graphic designer by day I think; he just does music in his 'spare time'), and - frankly - a genius. Alot of his graphic design work is quite stunning, but that's not what I'm going to talk about here.

A considerable amount of his music is available on his homepage, but it's not downloadable from there. You can get it on ArtistServer.com instead, where he has three pages - one for each of the aliases he released his music under:

FreeBrick - for his less-experimental Electronic and ambient stuff etc.

icotec - for his more-experimental Electronic, IDM and ambient stuff etc.

FreeZ - I think he releases most of his electronic/Acid Jazz under this alias
Some of his stuff is a bit too experimental for me (..and Drum'n'bass doesn't really 'do' much for me), but alot of it is very accessible. What initially attracted me to his music were his 'Symphonic Electronica' compositions - like Waterstill Theme and Rachel's Theme (both released as 'FreeBrick') - but he has composed a lot of other gems as well. Some of his music might appeal more to people who, like myself, listen to a lot of classical music.

His melodies - while not much like the House tunes that some people are more used to - are often almost breath-taking ( the afore-mentioned Waterstill Theme and Rachel's Theme being prime examples ); his textures, harmonies and beats are exquisite; and - overall - in my humble opinion, his compositional techniques are masterly.

All of his music on ArtistServer.com seems to available under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 2.5 License.
