I want to set up an LDAP server but the windows one is interfering. Anyone know how to shut this down? I know its linked to active directory just can't find where I can turn it off.

Is the machine a domain controller in a production environment? Shutting down LDAP will cause all sorts of things to fall apart. If you wanted to remove LDAP and stop the machine being a DC, run DCPROMO. This will demote the machine back to a standalone server.

Can your chosen LDAP not be run on a different port? Most seem to support this....
