Got this in my email this morning:
Dear Eoin - This is a one-off email to advise on changes to your account on our new site 101cd.com. You will not receive any further emails from us (except when placing an order) unless you have chosen to do so. There is no need to contact about this to “remove” your email address from our system.

Your account is set up on our new system and can be accessed using your email address (the one we have sent this email to: myaddress@gmail.com ) and your password. If you previously had a user name which was not your email address your user name is now set to this email address.

We have also set up your billing address, but not a separate delivery address if you had one before. If you want a different delivery address this can be done through our new site.

If you cannot remember your password, then click on the “Forgotten Password” link on the Login page – to access this page click on the “login” link on our home page.

    NEW SITE FEATURES:
Firstly, any outstanding orders you have placed on our old site will still be processed – there is no need to place a new order! Details of these orders will be made available shortly through your account on our new site. If you cannot see these at present please check back in a few hours as we are currently working to provide this. If you need to update your card details for an old order please phone us on 01534 481603.

We have extensively expanded our catalogue and have lowered prices across our range especially for less well known titles. We have significantly improved the searching and browsing to make it faster and easier for you to identify the titles you are looking for. And we have added facilities to enable you to add and choose multiple delivery addresses and payment methods through your account.

Postage to non-UK customers. We have reduced postage prices to non-UK addresses for single CDs and single DVDs. We now only charge £1.50 for the first CD or DVD and £1 for each additional CD/DVD on the same order. This pricing is for a limited time only.

We would very much appreciate your feedback on our new site. We have taken many customer comments into account in its development and are keen to receive feedback from you. You can do this through the link on the home page describing more about our new site.

Please do not reply to this email or to any previous email address you may have used. Please use the “contact us” link below

Many thanks for using 101cd and we hope we can be of assistance in the future.
Who are a company I've never heard of before (though from a google seem to have bought my account details from cd-wow) to tell me not to contact them with instructions to remove personal information they've gleaned on me through what are illegal means in my home country?

Needless to say they got an email from me instructing them to remove any reference to me from their database.

    Anyone else get these?

Strange, Did they have a different name before 101cd.com that maybe you registered for?

I remember a while back, I got a few emails similar from BangCD.com, whom apparantly cd-wow.com had flogged my details to.

This either sounds like BangCD have changed their names or some other similar scam trying the same method and illegally getting people's contact details.

[Edit]I just done a search for my emails from BangCD and I sent an email like you did Sleepy requesting to be removed. I haven't heard from them since.[/Edit]

Double check the link on your original post, is it actually linking to where it says it is. This sounds like a scam to get your cc details. Specifically from the line saying "Please do not reply to this email or to any previous email address you may have used. Please use the “contact us” link below".
