They should do. Technically you're not legally allowed to carry your passport unless you intend to leave the country, so Aer Arann can't insist on passport only. You want something decent though, like a driver's licence.

Is that true? Wow I never knew that. What would be the reason behind that? Obviously some kind of security thing, no?

1.1 International & Domestic flights to, from and within the U.K.
I sincerely hope that this is not what I think it is

Are they pushing themselves as an English carrier in order to gain a larger market? Or do they think Ireland is in the U.K.? Nowhere in the "passenger information" does it mention domestic flights within Ireland, even when you start from aerarann.ie instead of .com, unless of course I've scrolled right past it, in which case... :o

    Hmmm...

What the hell are you on about??

    They fly to the UK
They fly from the UK and
    They fly within the UK

Whats the problem? Nowhere do they say they are as you call them an "English carrier"

i e-mailed aer arann and they said that you DONT need any photo id for flights within ireland. they really dont make it very clear on their website...

That is only my perception! I never said it stated this on the website.

My point was this... As an Irish customer, wanting to purchase a ticket for a domestic flight within Ireland, from an Irish airline, through a .ie website, why does it gear it's passenger information towards UK flights primarily, and why am I finding it hard to get information on domestic flights within Ireland?

And before you say it, no I am not one of those 'I hate English' people. It was only an observation.

    Bull****,

You can legally carry your passport whereever. Aer Arann can also insist on any ID they want, though it appears they haven't

It seems that Aer Arrann use the same type booking system as Ryanair.

Many airlines do. It's a fairly standard reservation system that can be customised to the airlines requirement.
