Where would be the cheapest place to buy an MP3 player?

My Audiodream broke one month after the year warranty had expired so i need a mp3 player.

No definitive answer to that really, you just have to shop around. Online try komplett.ie, mx2.co.uk,
    advancedmp3players.co.uk.
Offline try the usual places like peats. (Stay away from Harvy Norman though :v: )

    Why?...

I actually bought my H140 in Harvey Normans. At the time it was by far the cheapest place to get it. Then it went up in price:eek: (I think) and since then I haven't really considered them as good. mx2.co.uk seem to always have the best price for MP3 players with free delivery to Ireland:)

I would say either www.pixmania.com or www.ebay.ie. I know a lot of people complain about pixmania, but I have never had a problem with them and they are by far the cheapest IMHO.

I would 2nd http://www.pixmania.com, I have had no problems and have spent a lot of money on that site over the past 2 years. And after shopping around, I found that they were the best value (at the time) for a Creative Nano Plus Mp3 player! Good luck :)

Considering the 60GB iAudio X5 on mx2.co.uk is cheaper than the 30GB one on pixmania ( ), I know where I'd be shopping:rolleyes:

Er, I looked up iAudio players on pixmania.com and found, to my surprise, that I sell them far cheaper in the retail outlet I work in than they have them for...

How much are they in Harveys?

Current iAudio HDD player retail prices in Harvey Norman (Dundalk):

    20GB : X5 - €329, X5L - €349
    30GB : X5 - €369, X5L - €389

That's pretty dear alright. Especially considering they can be got for < €300 in the city centre for the 20GB one.

I really can't remember, my friend got it and I asked him where and he said for "€299 in ????" and I said "really", as in, "that shop??" and he said "yep" and I said "you wouldn't think they'd be selling that". I can't remember what shop it was though:o

Well Komplett's prices (for example) were €10 more expensive on each model last time I looked (2 days ago).

yeah but if you're buying from komplett (online) you may as well buy from the cheapest online source and I don't think komplett are that good in terms of MP3 player prices, except for the Zen Touch 40GB of course:) Same way as most of the population would find it easier to go into the city centre and get it €30 cheaper then what they can get it for by going to Swords/Drogheda. It's a shame because HN's were real cheap when the H140 came out, I was recommending them to everyone the same way I would now recommend the likes of mx2.co.uk, but since they raised their prices, I haven't been recommending them. The prices were good enough to spend a whole day travelling out with public transport as I did too, also nice to get from a retail shop rather then online. Personally I have a big problem paying more for something if I can get it cheaper elsewhere unless the price difference justifies getting it in a retail shop/avoiding import duties etc.

Huh? We didn't raise our prices... in fairness we've remained quite competitive. Feel free to show me where Harvey Norman prices have gone up in comparison to other retailers (and I'll have them dropped :) )...

You'll actually find Harvey Norman becoming more and more competitive price wise as 2006 goes on. We expect to have [snip - MANY MORE] stores open nationwide by the summer.

Anyway... you can't expect Harvey Norman (or any retail store for that matter) to compete with purely web based operators.
