Downloaded their tracks from the website. Not bad I guess. Sounds like your first cousins playing the songs or something. Wish I could go. But it would be a long drive just for a tribute band!

There's also The Smumpkins who do quite a good cover set. They mainly concentrate on the heavier material. What's the mix of the Squashings like?

are you joking? they sucked .. did you notice how they didnt manage to nail the lyrics .. fans eh!!
i would say the mashing pumpkins are so much better .. they sound like the pumpkins and hey guess what .. as it should be .. billy plays guitar **
i would advise sqaushing pumpkins to never play again .. but thats only my opinion ..

oh give it a rest! no cover band should be taken that seriously dude,..unlike these charming men which was ****ing scary as people were trying to clamber on stage to rape the guy because they actually believed he was morrissey (like he probably did himself) SP are an incredibly hard band to cover due to the fact every song is different, reverse ****ing guitar and synth with really difficult riffs. I know people who have been playing since they were 10 and in their 30's now who still can't pull off some of their stuff so they don't even bother!

I thought it was fun and lighthearted and exactly what it was supposed to be..a tribute :P MJEH. :p

    Eh

I enjoyed them but they were not anything brillant(i agree tho tribute band cant expect much however aussie nirvana were always fantastic :P) 10 euro in tho when i thought it was 5 euro, boo!

It reminded me how much i love silver****

are you joking? they sucked ..

Well that's buls**t. They are a very talented band. The singer had Billy's vocals down to a T, and the drummer was great. I thought the last 3 songs were a bit mushy sounding though. The Everlasting Gaze didn't sound right at all. But apart from that they rocked.

I thought it was tres amusing when he didn't know the lyrics to 1979 hehehe..of all the songs to not know the lyrics...

yeah i guess it is true that a cover band should be taken lightheartedly and all that .. however if they have the cheek to charge ten euro in and then not even play the songs well .. that sucks!!
i disagree with anyone who says they rocked .. they didnt!! simple!! lets hope they never ever try pull that off again in a hurry .. and 1979 .. they didnt know the lyrics!! dude .. weak

I could've sworn this thread said 5 euro!

i thought the guy missed his cue to come in on 1979

na twas indeed ten euro in .. steep i think! i saw mashing pupkins in themusic centre a while ago .. and they were amazing man .. and as far as i remember they were under 5 .. well worth it .. i think the fact that there billy plays guitar really adds to it .. they totally rock out

I've seen Mashing Pumpkins a few times, I know the guys pretty well from house parties and stuff, they do a great cover set, the lead singer is obsessed with pumpkins which is good too:) I'd really prefer to see them in a strictly pumpkins venue, the only place I have seen them, which has been quite a few times, is at house parties and in TBMC where there would be different bands on, so I've never actually seen them with a strictly pumpkins crowd, just friends of theirs and friends of the other bands playing:o I'd say they could shake up a pumpkins crowd no problem though:) They also do viewphoricness too and other live covers, not just covering note by note from album tablature etc which is good:)

I'm in no way comparing them to Squashings here as even though I've listened to their demos which sound ok :) I couldn't judge them until I saw them live, as that's what cover bands generally are, for the live element, nobody is really going to buy an album by a cover band covering word for word in the exact same style as the original band.

I went to the gig on saturday, thought it was ok.
the guy had billy's voice down to a tee,but his stage prescence was zero(no pun intended:D ) the rest of the band where average, tbh, the guitar solo in stand inside your love was out of key & horrible!
what they lack badly is a bit of passion & energy when on stage,& the 10 euro charge was a bit steep also,
not a bad gig but I would'nt go out of my way to see them again!
