I'm off to Amsterdam this weekend to see The Advent, Deetron and David Squillace play and I was wondering if anyone could recommend some decent record stores for techno. I was there a few years ago and remember one on a street just west of the Damrak but I was wondering if anyone knew of any others. I'd prefer to wander around and try my luck but my time is limited unfortunately.

    Thanks if you can help

there's a great shop called killa cutz, can't remember the name of the street though...

    BASICALLY

you go to the dam square.

    stand at the spiky bit.

cross the big **** off dangerous tram, car and bike infested bit and turn right and its like your fifth right... down the street on the left hand side across the way from a wee coffeeshop. they're sound in there, they specialise in tech house, techno and drum and bass, the guy who owns it runs one of hollands most respected drum and bass labels.

there's an even better one called "distortionz" - its on the "westersestraat" in the jordaan, its a fair walk from the station. its a ****ing goldmine though, i spent 200 bucks last time i was there. lots of old second hand stuff that i'd never seen anywhere else.

    enjoy!

It turns out I could spit on Killa Cutz from my hotel room (not that they'd let me in if I did that!).

    Nice one

ha ha sound! there's another shop on the same street i think that does trance and hardstyle etc if you#re into that...

do check out distortionz though - its a bit off the beaten track but its in my favourite part of amsterdam - a lot more chilled than the centre and not that far away...
