Maximizing RAM

I have 3.5gb RAM in a server which will in future be expected to handle large volumes of data, it is going to be used to host virtualized pc's and thus will probably be consumed in large chunks by the virtualization software.

I read somewhere that exchange servers can be optimized via a switch to better manage RAM and I was wondering if the same would be applicable/useful in my configuration?

If so where can I manipulate said switch? Is it a registry setting?

    Many thanks,
    - Richard
