    Hello all!

Well I am about to dive into the setup of my new TV tuner card along with WIndows MCE 2005.

    This is my current setup:

    Windows XP SP 2
Windows Media Center 2005 (running via VMware)
    2.8ghz P4
    1GB Ram - 533 (i think??)
    250Gb external Maxtor
    80gb Internal Maxtor
    ATI 128mb Raedon Graphic card
    Soundblaster Platinum 5.1 card
    Hauppage 350 tv tuner card
    Linksys wireless router 11g enabled

    Chorus Digital

    Xbox 360 (media extender)
XBOX v1.3 (modded with XMBC pimped)
    Sony Davs 888 5.1 system
    28" LG widescreen

I have got the media center working pefectly for streaming audio & video.

Now to get the Live TV & recording TV thru Windows Media Extender.

What I am planning to do, is have a 2nd set-top box by my PC, and plug this nto the TV tuner card and set it up from there. At the moment I have a chipped analgue box spare, so I might use that, but I take it woudl be better to get a digitial box?

I have no experience in setting up WMC with this card and was waondering what to expect?

Will it pick up all the channels individually?

Will it only pick up the signal from the digital box , then I will have to change channels with soe sore of IR remote?

The XBOX 360 does have a windows media center compatible remote with the green button, but i have a feeling it will not change channels for me?

I am hopign to use the setup so I can record TV onto my PC, but control it from my XBOX 360 media extender.

does anyone have much experience with a similar setup - specifically with Chorus Digital?

    Thansk

    Dave

I think you'll need to get an MCE remote for your PC. It comes with a USB IR blaster thingy that'll change the channels on you Chorus Digital box when you change channels using MCE.

Chorus digital should be no harder to setup that NTL Digital, a couple of hours should do it.

Check your graphics card is on the list of approved hardware, make sure it's got recent devide drivers and don't forget you will need something to decode the video (WinDVD or similar).

oops! looks like i need a new video card as well!

I suppose thsi is why when i launch MCE in VMware that i get
that error - your video drivers are not compatible?

ah well, hopefully i will be able to get a PCI card that will do,
i am like the agp ATI card I have , because it has a DVI output,
    i might use it sometime....

    come to think of it,

I dont think I will have to replace my graphic card at all.

When I launch Media center, I do get a error saying video drivers not compatible, click ok, and media center does open fine.

Now, I can still gget into the setup & options, so this tells me that I should be able to setup my TV card & channels within MCE.

I wont be using my desktop WMC to watch TV, I will be using my XBOX 360 media extender for this, so this tells me that media center will have a compatible video driver for this....

I am guessing that when I do have it setuo that the recordign will work as well?

suppose I will not know until i get my TV card in thw post..

The xbox should handle all the media center functionality,
and then the recording of TV should just go straight to hard disk on my desktop PC.....
