Not really sure if this is the right thread to post this in but:

I'm looking to rebuild my DJ case - CD player, mixer and MP3 controller, all 19" rack mounts.
My current case is built from wood covered with speaker cover cloth. Is there anywhere I can get the components to build a more lightweight and durable case?

Googled, and can't seem to find anyone in Ireland and no joy from Maplin either.

Have you got a pic of your current set up to give us an idea of what you need?

Maybe one of These would work.

nope, it has to be able to sit on a table pretty much as per the pic.
Really, all I'm looking for are the components to build it myself.

You can get large sections of birch plywood in B&Q. It's about €50 for 2000x1000 mm kinda thing. I can't remember the exact measurements. It comes in 12mm 15mm and 18mm depths. I think they might even do a 9mm but that would be pretty damn light. They do straight cuts for 50c or so in the shop, so it helps to get as much of the work done there as you can. I dunno if it would be any lighter weight than the what you've got.

The only ways I can think of to go lighter without compromising strength is molded plastic or aluminium. The molded plastic is beyond DIY. Aluminium, I'm not sure whereabouts you'd get that much tbh, and it requires a whole different set of tools and skills to work than wood. I'm guessing by the fact that you're even asking the question that it's not a viable option.
