http://www.hbo.com/ shows the 6th and final series is starting on March the 12th. I wonder when it's starting in Ireland and If TV3 will show it before England like last time, anyone know?

Great news it's my favourite program ever, hands down.

TV3? I thought RTE had it...looking forward to it anyway. There are going to be a few episodes after season 6, there was some news about that a while back, just 8 or so I think.

No reason to think that. RTE were only a few weeks behind HBO last time and they're already advertising "The Sopranos" as part of their current lineup. Doubt we'll be made wait that long.

RTÉ TWO are showing it soon. As if TV3 would see past the ITV programmes.

Good to see that they have the sense to wrap it up while they are still hot. It always bothers me when shows run for too long. Excellent show; and now it will always be remembered as consistently good.

They often end up catching up.
I remember with season 3 of Scrubs, RTE started something like 2 months behind the US, but about half way through the series NBC started missing weeks, and RTE ended up just 1 week behind, infact they had to hold back on an episode one week because airing it would have put them ahead of NBC.
It didn't happen with season 4, mind you.

i only got into it when steve (best actor ever) buscemi joined the cast and was enjoying watching the earlier episodes.

Apparently as it is the final season it has been extended by 8 episodes. Most of the seasons so far have been about 12/13 so will be looking at around 20 new episodes!!

See link for a couple of other small spoilers:

Having seen every episode of the show, I have to say that was the worst episode of the Sopranos, ever [episode 2, Season 6]

    Very disappointing

I dunno, following on from Episode 1, I think it has set the season up very nicely.

I agree that it was very disappointing. I felt kind of let down by the end of it.
On the other hand there was some very good acting in this ep, esp from Carmela and obviously a lot of thought (maybe too much) went into writing it (ie the symbolism of
T's alternative name: Kev Infinity, the Buddhist monks, the blazing flames on TV, is he going to "check out"?, his alternative wife and kids, the hotel as purgatory, the opening song in ep 1 (about the Eqyptian belief in souls narrated by William S Burrough (!) etc.
The ep had a very Philip K. Dickian quality.
Lets hope normal service will be resumed soonest.

I dunno what everyones problem is. The episode filled in a few gaps in regards to how the characters developed since the last series ended, particularly AJ, who it seems, has grown into a bigger asshole. I don't want to give too much away but it still leaves you wondering as to what might happen next. 7/10

    First episode is amazing.

    Second is pretty slow.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 396 ✭✭monomaniac

    The episode was average -
lacked action but certainly began to set things up. Even if (or more likely when) Tony wakes up I doubt he'll return as boss of the family straight away - how will Silvio handle the responsibility. As Silvio said about Johnny Sack in S5 - "some people are better at being number two".

And is Vito the next to get whacked - or is there going to be a power struggle?? Look how much weight the guy lost!!!
    http://www.hbo.com/sopranos/cast/character/vito_spatafore.shtml

Were AJ's threats about "putting a bullet in the old mummy" hollow??

I think people would have enjoyed this episode more if it had been shown as a two-parter last week

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,713 ✭✭✭✭jor el

I quite enjoyed the second episode. It was slow compared to other episodes of The Sopranos, but this is understandable since
    Tony has just been shot
and you don't get over that in just one episode. Since this is the final season the writers and producers are obviously setting the stage for a big ending so there's got to be a long build up to that. Expect several slow episodes for the coming weeks I'd say.

Having said that, it could get interesting with
AJ's threat to kill Junior, the struggle for power now that Tony is down, there's still more going on with Johnny Sack's crew and in particular Phil Leotardo.
There's surely a war brewing somewhere in there, but they can't go jumping into it in the second episode of 19 for this year (from what I understand there'll be the standard 13 plus six bonus episodes later in the year).

Actually, now that I think of it.
Did anyone else think that Tony's wife on the phone in the dream sounded a lot like Adrianna? It definitely wasn't Carmella, and the kids sounded younger too.

    Notice
Tony's attempt at a different accent. I assumed it was Carmela and his kids but in a different life. I assumed he was remembering his kids when they were younger (perhaps his fondest memories of them?)

Thought it was an excellent episode in the spoiler:
dream episodes, very subtle seeds are planted for future plots, and I think this episode points towards Anthony Jr. becoming a wiseguy...think he will off Junior and be welcomes into the fold...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,296 ✭✭✭valor

Episode 3 was pretty disappointing aswell imo, this season hasnt started off too great
At least he has woken up now so hopefully it will get back to normal. wonder will Vito make a move against Tony with Leotardo? He seemed pretty pissed when Tony woke up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,683 ✭✭✭daveg

I though Ep 3 was quite good.
I thought the dream scene where Tony was invited into the house by Tony Blundetto, played by Steve Buscemi, was well done. The whole story around Tony getting shot has dictated the storyline since episode 2 and I'd imagine it will for a few episodes.

Personally I thought S6 Ep1 was one of the best episodes ever.

I thought ep 3 was a good (if not exceptional) ep. Does anyone else think that
the shootout scene at the start with Paulie was unusually bloody? I know Sopranos is always violent but this seemed to be unneccessarily full of gore - like they were just trying to be a bit controversial or something

Ep 3 was 100% Quality, best one so far.

Paulie again made that eposide when he was sitting down talking with Tony. Also Sil having an asma attack and of course it is allways great to see Steve Busemi and i really enjoyed the part when he is telling Tony to "let go". Very good all round

Seems to be all coming apart at the seams in episode 4....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 396 ✭✭monomaniac

Do you mean in terms of family relationships etc or quality of the show?

I thought ep 4 was fantastic - loads more build up. Hopefully it'll be worth it!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,713 ✭✭✭✭jor el

Yeah, episode 4 was a good one. I spy trouble ahead for Vito,
Carmella has warned Tony to watch him after seeing both he and Paulie's faces at the end of episode 3 when they handed over the money.
I wonder will Tony get back into the swing of things now, or continue down the existential path of enlightenment he seemed to be on in the hospital?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,984 ✭✭✭✭Lump

I'm sure he'll be back to his old self.
Paulie is gonna be in deep water if Tony finds out he's going behind his back re: the garbage money he's demanded, although it was Tony that encouraged him to stay paying for his not so real ma

Family Relationships - after 5 seasons and being a huge fan, they'd have to do something seriously wrong for me not to like it....

Think they're moving the plot lines about like chess pieces, and they're could be major pay-offs - remember it's 20 episodes this series...
