Sharing internet over wireless?

I have my desktop pc and laptop connected wirelessly using an ad-hoc connection.

The desktop pc is wired to my broadband router.

How do i share the internet connection from the desktop pc out to the laptop through wireless? Do i need to use internet connection sharing?

Also should the laptop automatically pick up the internet settings from the desktop or do i need to set the primary gateway to the routers ip address?

The wireless connection is strong, its just the browser will not automatically detect settings.

Any help or direction would be appreciated. :)

ICS (click for answers), or connect the laptop to the router also..

The first option means leaving the PC running when you want to use the Internet connection on the laptop (Which is awkward, slower, and consumes more power, and over-complicates matters)..

The answer is simple: connect to the router.
It does work, if you do it right..
