Request for Information

I saw the film "Breakfast on Pluto" in the cinema last night (very entertaining film by the way), and there was a specific car in the film, driven by Gavin Friday's character, which caught my eye.

I don't know what the car is, but it really struck me as being something special.

If anybody has any information, I'd appreciate it.

    Regards

Gavin Friday's car was a Mk 1 Ford Capri.

Good film, but terrible liberties taken with the props and locations for a period piece. Spanky new Voyager trains might look great in a London railway station, but they don't convince as a '70's setting. Likewise there were newervintage army landrovers at the border check, and a Ford Corsair dressed up as a Garda squad car (I don't recall them ever using Corsairs).

    Cheers.

Yeah, I wouldn't have much interest in classic cars - I know what I like, that's it - but I did notice certain things out of place.
No doubt www.moviemistakes.com will have a field day on this movie. :)

I haven't seen the film yet, but my Dad and some of his mates were hired to bring along some of their cars when they were shooting part of the film in Callan Co Kilkenny - where the church was burnt down. My dads car was a 1935 Ford Model Y - I believe it was meant to be the Parish Priest's car in the flashback part of the film where they cover the affair the priest had in the 1940/50's. My dad and his mates got great entertainment driving up and down the streets of Callan while they shot and reshot the scenes several times.
By any chance did any of you spot such a car in the film?
    Rgds

It was indeed a MK1 Ford Capri and I own the very car. Its a 1972 2000GT XLR and It's now in the UK, still going strong. I don't use it much at this time of year but it's great in the summer, glad you liked the film & car

Here's a rather sorry looking Capri parked by the ferry - a 1972 1600GT XLR according to Cartell.
