Schaller Strap Lock-question/help?

    Hello all.
So I bought myself a set of locks. Have them on and everything. Now, the bit that I've screwed into the guitar is nice and tight and all. But the part that allows me to snap the strap on and off is a bit jiggly. Now, I'm just wondering is it supposed to be?
I know I'm not very clear in my description, but I hope someone has a take on this, it'd be helpful.

Also,do strap locks also save a strap from it's usual wear and tear. I just got some new customized straps(with album covers covered in plastic and sewn on), anyhow, I'm kind of paranoid about them wearing out (even though they're brand new). Thanks in advance.

Jiggly, as in you can move the lock about a little when it's attached to the guitar? That's pretty normal, don't worry.

    Thanks, man.;)
What about the strap wear and tear? Do these locks add even more strain on them than going without? Like I said, I got some awesome customized guitar straps and I want those to last me as long as possible, would using locks on them add any surplus tension?

No, the tension is caused only by the weight of the guitar. In fact, the strap locks should extend the life of the guitar as there isn't any play in the strap openings, they're clamped tight against the nut.

    Ok, cool. Thanks.
I was just paranoid about doing damage to the leather tabs on my straps. ;)

Just one thing I might point out. They have one bad point.

Make sure you use screws with a good thread on them. Otherwise they'll end up just ripping out of the guitar and destroying the screw thread in the wood. Happened to my Gibson about a month back.
