MTV, Chewing gum for the eyes

Does any body else agree that mtv has now become a the septic tank of television,
what i mean is that the televison shows have no thought behind them,

i.e that shows formats are being recycled

Hogan Knows best = The Osbournes
= same crap diffrent show
Meet the barkers = Newleyweds

and pure and utter ****e being broadcast

My Sweet sixteen, theses kids who are spoiled little brats who think that the world revolves around them and mummy and duddy will
give them everything just because they put on a sad face and a few tears, so kids here will think that its ok for them to act like this.


The Uk PMR, watching it is like looking at a slow and painful train crash.

i completly agree, its gone to sh1t i never watch mtv as in the main channel, atleast there is mtv base mtv2 dance etc to choose from, for me

But yes its all crap, to much shows, less music.

Christ, it's a shambles of a channel alright. I'm actually sitting here trying to think if there's anything MTV could do to make things worse, and I'm at an absolute loss.

I fondly think of the glory days of the legendary Ray Cokes, but right now, I think if we could have the days of Tom Green back, it would be a serious improvement.

I quite liked the original Tom Green show/Jackass (when it first aired)... it's probably my fault that MTV is the way it is now...!

yeah and whats even funnier is that its not that she wasnt gettin it at all, just that she wasnt gettin it on her actual birthday. i agree its absolute sh**e now and they havent shown music for years but isnt it funny shoutin at those spoilt bitchs on that show

You could argue that most of it is still music related.. Music Culture, Car Stereo Equipment blah blah..

It is utter ****e alright but can be be funny sometimes.. Sweet 16 is scary but I would love 16 year olds to look like that here haha

Tom Green, one of the shows i'd stay up until 3 in the am to watch.

When it started it was good , music videos all the time. Not as good as MT USA that RTE showed though.

Then it went through a phase where every 5th video was product placement for Swing Out Sister and other one hit wonders that music companies were trying to break even or so it seemed.

Then they dropped the music.

Foreign music stations play more English language music than they do and a better selection.

Bring back andy dick aswell. The shows that bother me the most are "do you wanna come in" and "dirty sanchez" there just crap thats force fed to us.

I don't watch much TV anymore, but I used to watch a lot of MTV stuff. I enjoyed the music videos they played, not too many of the shows, though. I can't stand the values and morals they portray - selfishness, arrogance, jealousy. I'm better off not watching that channel, imo.

At this stage i really dont think 20 something guys are MTV's key demographic :rolleyes: . They will keep making shows that entertain the teeny boppers that enjoy that kind of thing, clever buisness practice is what is is!

Most of my peers watch it(I'm 16), saddening really, but I'm sure they'll grow out of it. As for MTV2 and all the other versions of the channel, they're all practially the same, some actually play music, but they never play anything but corporate products that try to pass themselves off as music(well, of course there's exceptions, but this is mainly true).

It was good in the past though, and used to shpw some great stuff that was genuinely funny like Beavis and Butthead, Daria etc. At least they show South Park now, but that's so unoriginal...

They seem to have only 3 presenters too (last time I watched) - girl with straight brown hair who smiles too much, the "news" guy - how he can read that rubbish and treat it as if it's important is worrying - , and an "indie" guy with longish black hair - oh go away, you annoying git! Aaaaargh!

yeah there is hardly any presenters left, the only person left from original i think is zane lowe, but he's on mtv2.
whatever happened to bitesize, with the little robot, i loved that guy. and euro top 20.
bring back some celebrity deathmatch and tom green at night, basically be like you were in 1998, you were better.
