Do you have a set routine or disciplined structure that you write to?

Do you always carry a notebook?

What's your favourite time of the day to write?

What do you write with; pen & paper, typewriter, computer etc?

Do you write constantly or in bursts?

I used to keep a regular journal, but I became too busy for that. So I guess you could say I no longer have a "disciplined structure"; just whenever inspiration comes.

Pretty much always have a notebook with me, unless I know I won't have time at all to write.

My favorite time of day to write would probably be late at night, when all the world is asleep, and listening to quiet music. Great time to think about stuff, too.

Most of the time I use the good old fashioned pen and paper; sometimes I write on the computer, though. It's faster and easier to erase stuff... I guess it just depends on where I am. If I had a laptop or a computer in my room, I would probably always write on the computer.

I think I write in "bursts"; I think about what I'm going to say before putting it down on paper.

I've never really kept a particular routine to writing and I'd be pretty like NoDay in that I write when I get inspired. I find that I mostly write late at night when I'm in bed as well. I used to carry a notebook with me but found it didn't really help anything. If I come up with something I think is decent when I'm out and about I can generally remember it until I can get it onto paper.
Pen and paper for me too. I've tried using the computer before, but I just prefer having everything down on paper. I keep a laptop in my room but don't really enjoy writing on it. As for erasing things, I like to see what I have written and crossed out to get an idea of my thought processes.

Yeah I write at night as well and definitely in bursts. I could go two months writing nothing and then write about 15 poems in one go.

Generally write on the computer these days, though I think pen and paper is prob a better idea

That is true. :) It's good to see the changes you've made; sometimes you may find that something you had written may be wrong for one part, but works good in another part. So that's cool.

I always write on paper before I put anything onto my computer. I don't really know why I do this but I like to have a hand written copy of all poems and short stories that I produce. My favourite time to write is at about 4 in the morning everyone is bed listening to some Sigur Ros going off into my own little poetic world.

When do I write? When the mood moves me. Use laptop directly. Life's too short to scribble by hand and then keyboard. Late nights are best. Venue? Coffeehouses with atmosphere and plenty of java, or cuddled up in a blanket on the couch in my cotton sweats. No BF around (they are too much of a distraction).

no i just write what comes to me when it comes to me

Do you always carry a notebook?
not usually altho i will usually have something with me to jot ideas down on especially when im in college

What's your favourite time of the day to write?
night time for sure, but recently i wrote 3 chapters to a thing im doing right in the middle of the day, surprised myself a bit.

What do you write with; pen & paper, typewriter, computer etc?
computer always when im actually finalising things but i will take stuff down with pen and paper if something comes to mind when im out and about otherwise you just forget it and its lost forever

Do you write constantly or in bursts?
well i dont write every day but recently i have been writing fairly regulalrly because im workin on the book idea. because its so long and with so many ideas i pretty much add something every day but as far as poetry goes i usually just come on to boards, and then start thinking of something and write it there and then. i neevr dwell to long on it because i think poetry that is worked on feels very stale to read.

Have recently begun writing down ideas and bought a notebook yesterday to carry around - I usually have a diary on me or the notes facility on my mobile but I use them more for business notes.

I seem to have bursts of ideas or thoughts.

And I seem to write better late at night.

Apparently people think better when they are lying down...

Do you mind me asking you where you heard that?

It seems a lot of us prefer to write in the dead of night. I rarley write during the day too many distractions.

I write a lot, on my laptop.
At the moment I'm working on 2 screenplays, and sometimes I write poems, but I'm prolific when it comes to poems.
Ideas about what to write come to me themselves, I could be walking down the street and bang I get a great idea!
And for that reason i do carry a notebook:D

I don't do poetry, it's mostly short stories and the odd mid length adventure.

I wrote one poem once, posted it on boards to generally good feedback, so I quit while I was ahead! :D

I write on the computer, never on paper, that way frustration and tiredness are minimised and potential and quality maximised! Always in the morning, when I'm fresh also. If I amn't in the mood I simply can't produce anything credible.

No matter what I write it usually is formed of short, choppy sentences.

I buy lots of pretty notebooks, but hate wasting them on scribbles, it takes months for me to defile the paper! I use both pen and paper (usually in workshops) and my laptop, depending on when and where I am. But anything will do - beermats, paper stolen from civil servants, the spare bits of space on newspapers... you get the picture.

That said, what I write is little and far from often.

    Probably a good thing!

I read it somewhere a while ago, cannot remember exactly where I am afraid...

I only ever write on my computer. I could go months, a year even without writing anything and then have a 6 week stint, spending half the night typing away and come out with a load of stuff, most of which I throw away but usually there’s a few keepers in there.

I don’t know the reason behind the bursts of writing. I think it really comes down to who I'm reading at the moment. Some authors just particularly inspire me I guess.

I only write in bursts and i HATE it! I wanna be able to stay at my computer typing for hours! But it takes me forever. And what makes it worse is that i'm trying to write a big novel! Oh god, just thinkin about it hurts me!

Another thing, I use 'I' alot. Like, "I get up and walk over to the window. I see something...". It's so annoying

Do you have a set routine or disciplined structure that you write to?

I try to write every day, even if it's only a couple of lines or editing.

Do you always carry a notebook?

    No.

What's your favourite time of the day to write?

    Late at night. No interruptions!

What do you write with; pen & paper, typewriter, computer etc?

    Laptop, in bed!

Do you write constantly or in bursts?

I'm fairly constant, except for the time I got a rejection slip from a literary agent who took my novel to pieces completely unfairly, accusing me of incorrect research etc. She was SO negative and downright horrible that it put me off writing for months.
