Sell things from China...opportunity?

    Hi,

I'm an Irish person living at the moment in eastern china. I think there has to be an opportunity to buy things here, send them back to ireland and get someone to sell them. I'm not talking about a huge volume of things initially.

The kind of items i'm thinking about are things like SD cards, MP3 players and USB memory sticks. things that wouldnt be too expensive to send in the mail. I dont want to go down the Ebay route as it seems like there are so many people already doing that and a lot of people are reluctant to buy things from ebay. they'd be willing to pay a little more if they could see the item in front of them before buying. Is there anyone here to sells things in markets/ car boot sales etc. might be a good place to start. Also people who are in college may be able to sell a few USB sticks without too much effort.

I live quite close to a city called Yiwu (someone may have hard of this place). It has a huge commodities market where you can buy just about anything. So i could try and source items from there.

Just to give you an idea of prices..
1G USB stick about 40 euro
San Disk 1G SD card less than 50 euro

If you check the likes of argos for items like this you're talking about double the price at least.

If anyone is interested in discussing this further you can send me a Private Message or post here.

As i said earlier, i'd be thinking about starting off small ( a few items initially) and see how it goes. Just to see how viable it actually is.

    thanks,
    B
