i must congratulate dell on the sturdiness of their cases. i now know for a fact that its possible to drop a computer down half a flight of stairs with only superficial damage to the case.

its in perfect working order. and the bits that came off were snap on things anyway. i just clipped them back on and now the only sign that it ever happened is a few scratches. well done dell

did they actually snap or did the panel just come off? that front panel came off mine and the hinges were out of their socket but i was just able to push them back in and now its perfect

edit: it is the thing on the left of pic1 that broke off right?

No the clips that hold the panel on snapped off the panel, I have one clip holding it on.

Do I mind if I come over and try that again? Just to make sure it wasn't a one-off :D

Did the hard drive(s) survive too?

I once threw a double bed matress over the balcony from a fourth floor flat :D ..... no lifts and carrying it down flights of stairs, during a move, was going to be a real pain ........

when I got it to it's final destination I found it was a foot out of square :( and looked like hell  .... (mind you it wasn't built as well as a Dell :))

From that day since, I've aways recommended peeps not to throw their matresses out of high rise flats .... :p
