I had a look at their site earlier to find they're playing the UK next month, which means time off work, flights and accomodation to see them gig. This is the third tour in this region where they've skipped over Ireland.

Is anyone else slightly annoyed at this or know why they skip Ireland? I have a great time when I see them so I don't want to miss them but would rather not have to travel.

Also, anyone else going to see them in the UK?

I think they were supposed to be playing in Dublin and Belfast but cancelled.... bombidol posted about it a while back. I think 20 bulls each were supposed to support.

I wont travel to see any band, i dont agree with it. If i happened to be somewhere and they were playing then yeah, but im not paying for flights and taking time off work to do it.
We were meant to be supporting them but they pulled out of the irish date to fly home and go on tour with the Dropkick murphys. Cant say i dont agree with them in fairness, the DKM are huge in the states and touring with them can only bring SOIA into the spotlight. They have said on numerous occasions that they are all broke as hell.

There's very few bands I'd travel to see but SOIA are one of them, I always enjoy their set and if you plan it alright it's not that dear. I hadn't seen bombidol posting about doing a support date with them but now I know the story I really can't fault them for doing the DKM tour rather than an Irish date. It's an annoyance having to travel but I'll get over it. I'm looking at either the Manchester or Liverpool date at the moment.

    Enjoy it man,

Much as I'd love to get back to London for a few days the dates just don't work for me this time unfortunately. Should be a good gig oop north though.

they were hesitant to play ireland cause when they played in '99 they lost a bundle, had to pretty much wear merch to their last date the next day cause they couldn't afford to put thru as luggage! plus they slept in a van at the airport..... promoter didnt put them up. plus it was junior cert night and loads of drunk kids were trying to get in, looked like security were turnin away people..... we went out to "dinner" with them after the gig....to abra-kebabra!!!!.....all rather messy.

But they were more than happy to play again with a different promoter but then the DM's then came up......

seen em 4 times, never disappoint.

I remember that night in the music centre in '99...yeah, lots of junior cert kids(then again i was only 18) Strange to see this thread cos for the first time in ages I stuck on my 'Sick Of It All-Call To Arms' t-shirt. Cool t-shirt but maybe people think Im in the IRA when they read it!
