Can't remember how I did it before when used the search it would open a new tab instead of overwriting the open one.

Also is there any way of un-closing a tab if you closed it and can't remember the address ?

I think that there is a 'search bar' extension that gives extra options such as opening in a new tab.

The newest version of the mozilla engine supports this, and a browser like flock will do it out of the installer. I'm sure if you go into about:config in your firefox browser you can find it somewhere!

Either hold ctrl and click the home button, or middle click on a link. Thats all you need to know

I use Tabbrowser Preferences http://216.55.161.203/theonekea/tabprefs/ to open up a new tab for searches, just have to switch it on in the options.

while we are on tabs. does anyone know of a pluggin that will play a mp3 automatically in a new tab when you click on it instead of it replacing the current active window.

Hold the Alt key when you hit enter.

Thanks all - found the menu eventually.

    Tools
    Options
    Tabbed Browsing
    User Interface
Load the following in New Tabs - Searches from the search bar.

Another one I had and liked

    Tools
    Options
    Tabbed Browsing
    Tab Focus
Select Focus when mouse moved onto them
