    Don't forget to back-up all those important files for re-installing at a later date. (they won't survive the hard-drive being formatted) Have you tried Spybot - Search & Destroy or Ad-Aware SE Personal. These may get rid of the problem with the fuss of formatting it. They are only a few megs to download.

    Disable System Restore, then use Spybot Search and Destroy and AVG to clean out the viruses. It shouldnt take you that long and save you the hassle of re-installing everything.

    Don't forget HijackThis!. If all else fails and you're about to reformat, use this (in safe mode) to get rid of ANY modification to the Windows system.
