GeForce 6600GT (AGP) Problem

    Hi all,

I got this gfx card at Christmas from Komplett:
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=307919&cks=PRL

Ever since day one I noticed it wasn't performing as well as it should be i.e 30-40 FPS in Counter Strike: Source running at a resolution of 800x600 :o

So I went and found the latest drivers for my mainboard and of course the latest nVidia drivers (81.98)

I connected the molex power connector straight from the PSU to the gfx card, so it is not being shared by anything else like hard-disk,etc.

    PC Spec:
    P4 2.8 Ghz
    1024 + 256 = 1280 MB RAM

Anyone have any idead/experience with this particular gfx card/problem?

    Thanks in advance

I thought the latest nvidia drivers were 81.98. Are you using BETA or something? If so, you should use the latest release drivers. I presume that wasn't a typo of 128MB and you do actually have 1280MB :)

I have the exact same GPU as you, running with a Sempron64 3000+, and with everything turned at 1024x768, 4xAA, 4xAF I get 49.9fps in the CS:S stress test. What's the exact fps you get in this test with the same settings as me?

Yes, but certainly not to the extent that their 6600 can only run CS S at 800x600!

Strange problem. Only things that comes to mind are

    1) Drivers
    2) Clashing drivers from old card you had pre 6600
    3) Inadequate psu?

Try running source cs at 16bit resolution in display settings and you will get higher frame rate,or sell the card and get a more powerful model, does it run far cry or half life 2 ok?
