You'll need to get a bus to Nutgrove shopping centre (Route 16A about 40 mins from City) and from there a 161 to the terminus at Rockbrook (another 25 mins) which is near Mount Venus Road.

Alternatively the 14/14A from O'Connell Street (again about 40 mins) to the roundabout at Nutgrove Way/Barton Road and the 161 from there.

The 161 ain't frequent so you'll have to plan ahead. Timetables on www.dublinbus.ie

    Good Luck.

You could get a 15 bus to its terminus, walk up scholarstown road and then up stocking lane. You're probably looking at a 25 - 30 minute walk uphill every morning.

Mount Venus Road is not in Rathfarnham, it is well out in the sticks. The nearest bus is the 161 local service and you would need to go to the last stop which is near one end of Mount Venus Road. If the place is at the other end of the road it is a long walk along a narrow country road with a good deal of fast traffic. Not a pleasant walk in daytime and seriously dangerous in the dark.

The 161 goes from there to Nutgrove shopping centre. To get from the city you would need to take the 15C to Taylors Lane, 16 to Grange road or 14/14A (or 75) to Ballinteer and change.

I'm not sure exactly where on mount venus road the DSPCA is (its been a while since I took a walk up that way) but here's a map showing you the relative positions of the 15 terminus, the 161 terminus and Mt Venus Road.

You don't mention where in the city you're coming from, so its difficult to reccomend anything specific.

Here's the timetables for the 15 and 161 so you can see what kind of bus service you're letting yourself in for ;)

Good point. Maybe Solitaryman666 could cycle. Maybe carpool with another DSPCA employee.

It would obviously take less time from Rialto. If you are in walking distance of Clanbrassil St/South Circular Rd. then you can just hop on the 16 to Grange Rd (should take about 20mns) and get the 161 from there. Grange Rd goes on for miles, the bit you need is between Taylors Lane and Stonemason Way, it opens out to a newly widened section there.

It really depends where on Mount Venus Rd the place is. If it is near Kilakee Rd then walking from the 15 is an option but it is a long walk (30mns?) and is a pretty steep incline all the way, it wouldn't be so bad on the way back though. The 15C from Taylors Lane/Ballyboden Rd would also be a similar distance to walk although it is a less frequent bus.

To get to the 15/15C from Rialto would mean taking the 19 to Harrington St/Camden St and catching the the 15/15C on Harcourt Rd/Richmond St

The 17 bus goes from Rialto and passes Nutgrove S.C. from there you could pick up the 161.
