By an American writer dunno what his or its name is. It’s about a small town occupied by a foreign force and the resistance that develops in response.

The history of the novel is very interesting, a whole underground movement sprung up in Nazi occupied Europe to translate and publish it. It was written as a propaganda piece in the U.S. Can anybody help me?
