Add/Remove Programs Question?

    Hey guys,
I just need to pick people's brains here, I have a user who's complaining because an application that he uses frequently is displaying in add/remove programs as being used rarely.
It's also saying that it was last used December 6th, although he has used it this week.

Could this be because it is used within another application? It is not opened directly, but through Outlook?

any ideas would be great, thanks!

I am not sure about this one but maybe it could be because of it is pointing to the icon or the wrong file or something

I just had a look through my add and remove and there is some programs that are only coming up as something like a few kilobytes in size, which obviously means that it is an icon, and they also say used rarely, even though I use them frequently

It may be coming up like that because he does not use the icon on his desktop to run this said program, but I do not know any way around it

Add/Remove Programs gets its information from the Registry, and any other information it gets from best guessing. There are supported entries that the programs (or their installers) can use to specify, but these are rarely used.

Microsoft's Raymond Chen puts it best, although his blog is technical-based and assumes a prior knowledge.

use hijackthis to view/edit/delete add/remove programs entries, its one of the tools in the "misc tools" section
