    Hi all,

I have a machine running xp home with a cdrw drive. The device manager gives the following error:
Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)

I have tried uninstalling the drive and reinstalling, but it didnt work. The dirve works fine as I have tested it by booting from it and connecting it to another Pc.
    Any ideas?

I presume that you mean you re-installed the drive when you stated "uninstalling the drive and reinstalling", or do you mean physically reinstalled?
Is this a recent addition to the unit?
What is the name of the drive, as listed by Device Manager.

Check the BIOS settings are correct.
Re-install the Windows CD driver again.
    Check for an updated driver.

Checked all you mentioned but nothing worked. Took a reinstall to fix it.

    Thanks
