hi, I'm going travelling in a few weeks. I booked my flights with Trailfinders and now I am looking for insurance - I need cover for extreme sports as well as all the normal stuff. The insurance offered by Trailfinders was way too expensive, near €500. As far as I can see AIB offers the best deal - €328. Has anyone found anyone who will insure for less than this??
    Thanks!

hey, thanks for replying. I'm going at the start of March, for a year. I will be in South America for 2 months, then NZ for 1 month, Oz for 6 months - working for three of these- and finally Asia for 3 months, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos etc. I haven't decided yet what sports I'll be doing but I'm guessing I need cover for abseiling, white water rafting, bungy jumping, elephant riding, parasailing, diving. I'm sure I won't be doing all of those, but I might as well be covered, just in case!!
I didn't think of gohop, I'll have a look at their site. Thanks for the help!

Im in the same boat myself, heading to new zealand in 3 weeks time for a year. I already have BUPA cover which will take care of medical costs if there are any over there all im looking for is insurance against cancelled flights/causes of making you change a flight for family reasons etc. Anyone come across anything cheapish?

Are you sure Bupa covers you for the full year? Usually you are only covered if you are out of the country 'temporarily'. A year is not considered temporarily. I know with VHI medical plans you're not covered if you're out of the country for more than 180 days at time.

They cover me for 6 months then you can simply transfer your policy to their "BUPA International" branch.
