Also just up from the Kilkenny Design centre, but tbh, I think it's far safer to leave car on Merrion Square. It's only a 10 min walk.

if you come down st anne st from grafton st there's a right turn down anne's lane it's not very noticable till you come down the lane

Just of Grafton St(Annes st then Annes Lane). Nearer the top of Grafton St nearer St Stephens Green SC. When your on Grafon St look right to see the Westbury Hotel and left so see Annes St. Go down Annes st and take your first right up Annes lane(opposite keoghs pub). Then go up to see a doorman with top hat sizing you up ready to ask the the perfunctory "Are you a member" question he was directed to ask people wearing 'White Tops'!.

Congrats to DocO who took this down last night,€1200 as part of a 3 way deal i think. My night ended with 4 tables left when i couldnt find the courage to lay down queens preflop when i should have.

    Nice1 DocO

I made it 600 with blinds 100/200 in the cut-off, sb makes it 2k, he has another 2.5k left, ive 6.5k total. His range here is so small imo that i should fold, i didnt wanna race with AK, and AQ/JJ/1010 are the only hands i feel he makes this move with that i beat. Its hard to fold QQ preflop but i should have done it here. We got all-in and he showed KK. More detailed report on the 'oul blog

Cheers. If you didnt want a race against AK fine but im all in happily just about every time in this situation. To make it even better you have him covered and besides that players in the blinds can make this move with any pair thinking your stealing imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 601 ✭✭✭willis

im not sure, he has no reason to think im stealing here from playing with me for the last 2hrs and i think he would have made it more with lower pair, the 2k stunk of "im outa position, i have a hand, but i dont wanna get cheaply outdrawn". i should of went with my read but tough folding qq here. cheers for your thoughts though,i was 50-50 as to push or fold, ah well, on to the next tournie!

Yeah your right, they are likely gonna make it more with lower pair. I get paranoid that if i fold a good hand like this it could will be the last hand i see and i'll be kicking myself when i get ko'd later saying to myself "I should have moved with that QQ".

Exactly. But the result of specific hands shouldn't affect your thinking. I got knocked out of the €270 a few months back with QQ vs AKs. I got knocked out in 13th and got €350, but I was kicking myself on the way home. I was 2nd CL and I got knocked out by the CL. So I went up against the only person that could knock me out, with a hand that could easily have been behind, and was at best a 50/50.

It's debatable whether or not this is the right move. Had I won the hand I would have been monster chip leader, instead i was on the way home. It didn't help that 5 mins after I left they did an 8 way split for €2K each. D'oh!

So in both of our circumstances playing the Queens was debatable, but had we not played them, we could be kicking ourself later for not taking the chance. Its always a tough decision when you should take a 50/50.

rory i just read your comment on my blog, cant believe u had kk when i had qq and the flop was ace high. you played it very well preflop, and would of taken all my chips on any board that was lower than q high, unlucky and well played

Turns out it was my only good play of the night. Made two terrible mistakes after it and threw it away. Think I might head down on Friday

cheers lads, thanks v much. Was a good field so delighted to win/ split it.
Wouldnt normally be up for a split but was a business deal made, when we got down to the last 8, (9th went out straight away) i proposed paying out 8th money back and 7th 100, same as 6th, because there was a large enough filed and remembered the post by MadsL. When this was agreed there was juz over 1600 for first.
When we split, i had bout 85k, to 60k to 40/45k. They offered me 1220, to their 900 each, and we all tipped the dealers the same amount, so this seemed a very reasonable deal, only 400 off top prize with alot of play still left, and also meant i wouldnt b left tippin the dealers on my own, so i went for it.
Rory was givin ya abuse wen u got knocked out, u know who i am.
Well done on tue night Culchie, thats two now for the louth men!

I had a look around for you but there was too many white tops for me to go asking each one!

i had a great few first levels then my run of bad luck continued, QQ killed by AK and 99's walking into KK pretty much finsihed me off!

time for a break me thinks! :D
