The age old avi conversion question

    I know this ha been asked loads of times before, but this one has a slightly different twist.

    For the past 2 years or so i've been using Main Concept Encoder to convert Avis to an intermediate MPEG II. I then convert this MPEG II to VOBs using TMPGenc DVD Author. I also use this program to create the menus for my dvds.

    Recently, i've found that TMPGenc is just too basic for menu editting. I want to create more attractive menus, with custom text, videos, pictures etc. I'd also like to stop converting to an intermediate MPEG II. I know there are programs like WInAvi that convert straight from Avi to VOB, but i'd like some suggestions rom people here who actually author their own dvds etc / convert alot from avi to dvd.
