Hey - I caught the tail end of a story on "The Last Word" today, about a website that had been accessed by pupils in some school, but had subsequently been blocked. The headmistress (I think) was asking parents to be vigilent about home computers. They mentioned hatesite.com but that site seemed innoccous enough to me - Matt Cooper said something about "Internet Graffitti" and online bullying. Does anyone know what site they were talking about? I work in computers and I've never heard of this kind of site before. I'm reminded about grandpa simpsons speech about how they changed what IT was, and getting worried

Basically, 14 pupils from Alexandra were suspended for 2 and a half days for public abuse/bullying of fellow pupils - I think this is one such offending post: http://hateboard.com/read/568929891.

It's an interesting topic - I wonder does anyone have any opinions on it? Is it any different to the normal graffiti on a desk/toilet? Personally I don't think so, though I naturally condone it, I think it's just an electronic version of an age-old thing (much like ratemyteachers last year).

Yeah Whiskeyman, tell me about it - its layout is fairly poor too - seems to have been designed for a low volume of posting!

Saw the article in the Times (cheers for pointing it out though Whiskeyman; always appreciated !) that was what started me off. I think every radio show worth its salt covered it today, so by Saturday it'll probably be old news but - hey - we're a teenage-based show, so we definitely have to give our spin on it I figure!

I think it's a U.S. based site - though it's clear that Irish kids have a distinct fondness for it... wondering about the lack of ads myself. I'd say it'll be a flash-in-the-pan a la RateMyTeachers.

Thanks Noel and everyone who cleared that up. I have to say, I would have thought that the type of language they used would have been restricted to the Northside - but maybe that post wasn't from someone from Alexandra. Or is Northside talk cool now? It's still cool to say cool isn't it?

I learnt to touch-type in transition year. It really should be more encouraged (given the fact that pretty much everyone is going to have to use a keyboard at some point).
