I lost my H320 today. Had it in the front of my hoodie and it fell out without me noticing. Needless to say I'm really p1ssed off atm!
The pain of losing a €300 device is compounded by the fact that it's virtually irreplaceable as H320’s can’t be bought new any more. So if I can afford it, then I’m left with the decision of what to buy next. The nearest equivalent, the iAudio X5, doesn’t have rockbox. I also don’t like the sub-pack and the screen isn’t as good as the iRiver. I really like the look of the Zen Vision: M, and I like Creative players in general, but the fact that you have to use some sh1tty software instead of drag and drop is really off-putting. The only other thing that comes to mind is an Archos perhaps. Can anyone tell me of their experiences with these? Are they plug and play?
Godammit, I really don’t think my Rockboxed H320 could be bettered. Might scour ebay for a second hand one.

BTW, muckwarrior - the Zen Vision:M ALSO uses a subpack.

Damn, sorry to hear about you losing your H320. :(

Feared that might be the case alright.

Go for the zen vision:m..I hear the sofrware isnt so bad.

That is, if the bloody thing ever comes out.

Well it's not really whether the software's good or bad that's the issue, it's the fact that you have to use software at all. Can't beat plug and play!

According to Cnet the Archos Gmini 400 looks to give the H320 competition although the 500 looks pretty cool. I've had no experiance with it, but thats what was said.

    Ahoy muckwarrior...

Coincidentally, I just took an iRiver H320 into stock. It was sent to us here in Harvey Norman Dundalk instead of credit which we had claimed against a faulty unit. (In other words, instead of crediting us for a faulty H320 from ages ago, they've -only just now- replaced it!).

My retail price on it is €359... which seems a bit nuts to me.

That sounds more like a H340 price tag. Even new my H320 was only €299. Thanks for the heads up, but theres no way I could/would pay that.

I had myself an iRiver H140 and it was the bee's knees. There was nothing I didn't like about it- the perfect MP3 player for moi. I never liked the H300 series and I certainly don't like the H10's. If I was in the market for a new player I'd definetly get the iAudio X5. I don't have one myself, but I do have the A2-30GB and it's pretty nifty.

You are, of course, absolutely right. There was an error in how this was received in. Basically, not to go into too much detail, the original cost price of the faulty one that we were being credited for (which was sent back many many months ago - before the price dropped on it) dictated a retail price of €358.99 on the new one that replaced it.

I'm making adjustments in our stock system and it's being dropped to €299.

Ouch! Just saw this thread now:( Hard Luck Muck that would reeeally piss me off. I remember when my H140 was just new I was getting into my dads car, he started the engine put the gear in reverse and then I said "wow where's my H" he stopped what he was doing, I had a look around, nowhere, got out and there it was in the line of the front tyre and would have been crushed if my dad was given another 5 seconds:eek:

I'd try E-bay. Maybe you'll catch a good deal. Would you consider a H-140? No colour screen/video/photo/usb on the go, but fully functional RockBox and optical ports etc.

Your mans one in the FS forum would have been ideal alright:(

suppose the lesson to be learned here is never stop listening to music. If you were listening to music, you certainly would have notice it dropping out as the music would stop:o

But sure the H series don't support Rockbox, do they?

Both the H1XX and H3XX series now support Rockbox;) :)
