    Hey guys,

As the title suggests, I'm looking to upgrade soon :). Haven't really been in the technology loop for a while now so I'm kinda unsure of what to get. I want to upgrade my CPU and motherboard and I'm gonna use my existing RAM(1 gig 3200).

Just been on Komplett and the Athlon 64 3700+ looks decent and cheap. Is this a good bang-for-buck buy? (Aliteration ftw).

I really don't know what motherboard to buy as I've no experience with AMD setups. I've had Intel up until now and I'm kind of stumped. I don't need onboard sound, gfx or lan so I'm hoping I can get a cheap enough one. I don't want to seem lazy but does anybody know of a good 939 mobo off hand?

    Cheers lads.

It's a good processor. As for motherboard if you don't care about overclocking or tweaking then one of the cheaper Abit or Epox boards would probably do you. One word of warning regarding the gfx card - do you currently have a PCI-x card or an AGP one - just make sure you get the right one.

Be careful to get amd compatible memory simms,i think u have to get ddr memory, not DDR2, for amd cpu or athlon processor.Athlon or amd cpus are cheaper and faster for games and dvds ,av multimedia programs.Get motherbord with pci-e graphics slot, mobo must be compatible with amd cpu as well.Choose your cpu ,then get compatible mobo and memory, komplett.ie has good info on amd motherboards.
