I 'd be interested to know if any of you find it plausible to get "bad vibes" off a place, or perhaps caused by something. I'm generally quite passive about paranormal stuff but believe that i gat a bad feeling or bad vibes from certain places. Beagh Castle for examle, in county limerick. I get terrible "vibes" or a feeling somethings not right every time i go there. Especially to the little tunnell under it, down there i get a feeling like i can feel other people's fear or even terror, as if something horrible happened there. i know nothing of the history of the place. Can anyone offer explanations? even just ideas or tales of similsr experiences would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Con

There are two schools of thought on this:

1 - Everyone has the potential for varying degrees of pyschic ability. The capacity to sense the overall feel of an area is an inate capability. Negative sources of "energy"* can make people feel uncomfortable.

2 - Such "vibes" are a subtle blend of many different, but mundane things, such as lighting, temperature, architecture, smell, history, mood etc etc etc.

Now "2" does happen, you can't question that. The paranormal question is if number 1 happens, or its a misunderstanding of 2.

(*The word energy is used in this sense a lot. From my understanding of it, the concept is closer to "emotion", "aura" or "ressonance" than the scientiffic understanding of "energy".)

I dont know what the story is like, that's why i came on here. The problem is, i dont necessarily believe i have any powers or psychic ability or capacity because i'm not a great believer in paranormal stuff. Therefor, i technically should just assume that it's the factors of light etc there at whatever place i'm at. But, I've gone to that place loads of times, in different weather and different lighting, times of year etc and still there is a very strange sort of feeling off the place. mainly inside the castle or under it. There are a few places other than this where i've experienced similar things.
I'd be very reluctant to accept it was just my mind causing wrong interpretations of stuff, because, i never really get worried or scared by "scary" things, horror movies, "spooky" places etc. im generally extremely passive about that sort of thing and it's even very difficult for someone to give me a fright by surprising me, im just really laid back. Because of that, and the fact that i dont fear anything paranormal happening to me i'd find it more likely that there actuallly were some kind of strange signals/ traces of past events/ vibes about that place. Maybe "bad vibes" was the wrong description but was all i could think of.
As for the sense of fear there, i must stress that i always feel grand, as in it just like thinking "someone was very afraid here, but i'm grand"

Also., i must add: I dont know the history of that place at all

I've been to loads of simiar ruined castles and just though they were cool so i dont think it was to do with arcitechture

Thirdly, i've been there in different mood and i always get that same feeling that something very wrong or bad happened, as if there's some "negative energy " or something there. My mood and that feeling are always detached from the bad vibes and that sense of someone elses fear. As in i'm still in the same mood, just with that stuff in front of it in a seperate part of my mind as such

Sure I get those bad vibes ... i get good one too. Dont listen to anyone that knows them. I do have to agree with Zillah that some places and building do "set the mood" as it were. But one piece of advice .... trust your feelings, i've gone literally miles out of the way to avoid going somewhere or near someone I've had those feelings about. Equally I've had good vibes about people, spent a little time with them and end up having so much in common with them and gone on to become great friends ...... "trust the little voices".

I've had good and bad vibes myself... though I'm only starting to listen to them more within the past couple of years, as when I didn't pay attention to them, I ended up getting myself into a lot of trouble...

I always go with the vibes...hello btw this is my first post on paranormal!! Anyhoos I get vibes about places sometimes - if they are weird vibes i try to avoid the places. I always got vibes in my grandmothers place - i was really scared to go upstairs and when i was in the hall i'd always be looking up the stairs like something was there and also I was scared of passing one of the rooms downstairs...I found out years later that somebody had died (painfully) downstairs and somebody had been molested upstairs(it had been a guest house in the olden days)...
