Im looking to replace the stock 939 CPU cooler with an aftermarket alternative.

Looking on Komplett.ie I've noted these two

    AKASA EVO120 CPU Cooler @ €57 &

    Zalman CNPS7700-Cu CPU Cooler @ €50

The €7 difference does'nt bother me, but which one is best?

    Anyone suggest another?

I've heard nothing but good things about zalmans.

Yeah, Zalman for the win :D

Ive seen them in action, very nice.

They can be difficult to install though as you have to put in support brackets. Also make sure you have enough room in your case, the dimensions are on komplett and as you can see it is a very big cooler.

    See the 939 movie here

i'd recommend the 9500 available here:

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Zalman_121.html

Uses the standard socket 939 brackets also.

That works out to be around €70 though.

Overclockers.co.uk are dooing a special on it this week, works out around 65euro after delivery charges.

peats (where i got mine) have the zalman CPNS9500 - i use it and i've overclocked an X2 4400+ at 2.2 to 2.6 stable. Its the be all and end all of air cooling and is simple to fit.

    thermalright are the best.

xp-90 or something. never used one but there supposed to be as good as low end wc

the xp-90 does not perform as well as the xalman 9500 but the xp-120 does but it doesn't fit all mobos liek the zalman.

I personaly recommend the zalman through experience. i have 1.65 volts going through my cores and while running 2 prime95's (one per core) she'd stable at 2.6 with a constant temp of 51 degrees.

You may think thats hot but for 1.65 volts it aint. When the machine is idle or being used for webbrowsing/mp3 playing/messenger the temp sits happily at 33 degrees - still with 1.65 volts remember.

At stock FSBs and voltage the idle temp was 28 degrees, and 30 under full load. (2 x prime95).

Not bad. Not bad. I was gonna go for the Zalman but decided on the Akasa EVO120 instead. I'm between 48 and 53, prime95, 1.55v. And that's with the side of the case off. With it on, I'm hittin' 60. Not a happy chappy!!!

I'm sure you'll get good cooling with that - nice big fan on it and the heatpipe technology seems to have really closed the gap between high end air and low end water.

Thumbs up from me too for the arctic freezer 64 pro. No problems with it and I find it pretty quite.
