.TXT cutting/splitting question

    I have a user who needs to split a ginormous .txt file which was sent though from a client, some database they use.
    There are 190,000 lines of crap in this thing so i was wondering is there a way of cutting the text file into 3 separate .txt files?
    I can cut the file, but not into .txt, with some other program....
