Drinking and Playing

Does everyone lose a packet when drinking and playing?

I normally play STT's and a small bit of cash but decided to play cash online all night while having pints. I lost most of the bankroll i had been slowly but surely building up by being stupid, drunk and not concentrating.

Doc F i'm looking for tips here...can you have a few (or more) and still make money (or at the very least not lose a packet).

I have been there done that and wore the tee shirt. You have a cunning plan that you can win loads of money. Unless you get exceptionally lucky, you should avoid playing cards while buckled. Bad enought online, but going to a B&M place is suicide. Did it loads of times in the Fitz. Decided i was going to show them how to play cards at the €100 game, a very expensive and stupid plan. Barred myself from going into Casino with drink on me. It unreal when you are looking at it from the other angle. The pubs close, your in a cash game, and a guy sits at the table half cut. You realise that he is so easy to read and so willing to loose his whole tank in a suicidal attempt to win the first few hands. Then is willing to buy in a load of times to get the initial money back, then sobers up, realises he has blown a full months card money, and leaves. Now granted i won a few times going into play cash games with drink on me but i definitely lost much more times.

There definetly is a cut off point. Having a few pints (two/three) if you are playing a big game can be useful as it eases the nerves and gives you more courage to try the necessary bluffs. Essential for new players, imo.

One of two more though and your into a dodgy area. The courage turns into stupidity and you try moves that would never work. As smurph says, its interesting to see it from the other side, when a drunk players comes to your table. Everyone else comes to life and is trying to milk the poor f**ker.
