Just been told that you can fail the nct because your seatbelt doesnt wind up fast enough, anyone have any tips on getting them to wind up at normal speed ive stretched the seatbelt out all the way and let it recoil itself a couple of times it seemed to work initially but doesn't last that long anyone have any ideas on a more permanent solution

Sounds as though there's movement on the reel mechanism inside and its not laying flat as it recoils. Without knowing what the car is, age etc, its difficult to diagnose.

Sometie s there are screws or bolts on the side of the mechanism that can be tightened to take out any movement...just make sure the belt is fully extended when you tighten or you'll risk catching the belt.

If its a sealed unit, its probably worn bearings...........

try looking behind the panel where the seatbelt is. it could be twisted. it happens. You can fail the NCT for that, depending on what mood is the mechanic.
