For the first time I have been playing two games Max Payne 2 and Battlefield 1942.I think this may have an input into my problem.
Basically I have no Graphics card, I am told by many I have an onboard graphics card.
The problem I have is that when I turn on my computer it stalls at the part where it says "Windows is starting up."
And from then on it just stays on that!
A few times I have managed to gain access to the main lobby showing all of the user accounts.
Even then It stalls and I am unable to open my account.

My computer is a Hp Compaq.
On the monitor it reads hp 1702.

Any advice, it's really pissing me off!

    Can you access Safe Mode?

Start the computer, and keep tapping F8 -> Select Safe Mode from the top of the menu..

Boot to safe Mode , press F8 just before windows splash screen,

and do a system restore to a known working date,

    Or on boot F8
and take last known good configuration.

Yeah I just did both of those but on safe mode it goes straight to accounts but I still can't access them and the "Last known good configuration just went straight to "Windows is starting up" and stalled on that!

Should I reboot the pc, there was an option for that but I didn't touch it.What exactly would that do?

I appreciate the help given lads!

    i) Remove any additional hardware and try safe mode again..
what was the exact wording / location of the option to "reboot the pc" - was it Restart Normally on that menu..? That just reboots..

If it fails after i - not good..

When I pressed F8 there was an option down the bottom saying "reboot".
I went and tried last known good configuration and it seems to be working but I don't know for how long!
