As if the recent McCaffery case wasnt bad enough, do you think UCD should be allowed retain their place in the club championships? As a UCD student I'd say yes, but tbh, if this were my own county i probably would have a different answer. Dublin GAA needs all the helkp it can get...

No way - GAA Club level is about the parish. UCD is a hybrid county team. UCD should only be allowed to compete in colleges/universities championships and when they want to play against county sides there is always the O'Byrne and Walsh cups.

If they want to play clubs - set up challenge matches with them???

I'd agree with you there, Danno. They are as good as many inter-county teams, due to the fact that they have so many inter-county players (be it at senior, U-21 level etc.)

In my own opinion they shouldn't be allowed to participate in the club championship.

They should be able to participate, but only if they play by the same rules as everyone else, which currently they do not. If their players play in the Dublin championship, they should not be able to play in any other championship in any other county. Most of their players would probably choose club over college, but maybe not given the way Lucey and others have been saying how much they love playing with UCD. We'd see how much they love it if they've a choice to make.

UCD have brought absolutely nothing to Dublin football or hurling in the last decade. Zero. Although it is interesting that UCD have taken on full board the Dublin habit of losing games they should win, even though they don't have one Dub amoung their 48 strong squad. They totally bottled it against James Stephens and managed to beat themselves.

The likes of the O'Byrne Cup/FBD/McKenna Cup are far more suitable outlets for UCD and the other colleges if they want to play in more than college competitions. Especially as the counties have agreed that the colleges have first call on players for these competitions.
