DV capture - sound/picture out of synch

    Hi,

I'm using Nero SmartSuite to capture video from a Sony PC110 MiniDv onto my computer and then burning it onto a DVD.

However frames are lost during the capture which then throws the sound/picture out of sync when burned onto a DVD.

Can anybody help with a solution?

What are you using to caputre, (Analogue, Usb, Fire wire)?

    Hi,

I'm using Firewire - IBM Thinkpad T42, Windows XP, using a Lacie 800 adapter card.

Is the Picture before the sound, or sound before the picture?

(What's the processor on the laptop and how much ram?)

    Hi,

the pic is before the sound (as if picture frames were dropped but the corresponding sound was not).

    Pentium M 1.8Gh, 1Gb of RAM, 80Gb disk with 20Gb free

Are the drives de-fraged, and close all the applications in the backround.

Found this problem recently when digitsing from digibeta into Final Cut Pro. Tried and tried but couldn't prevent dropped frames here and there. Think it was a small problem with the deck.

Eventually had to just resync the footage manually. You may have to do that - look for any doors slamming, hand claps or other obvious visual and audio links and attempt it that way. Is there dialogue involved?

It's odd that it happened with Digi beta tbh.
