External Hard Drive Problem

Im running XP and I purchased a 200GB 'Seagate' External Hard Drive' for added storage (Mainly Music Videos now totalling 30GB) I bought it about 2 months ago and it has been working perfectly and very very fast seamlessly playing all the videos (filesize 60MB on average)

But today when I came back from work, I noticed some of the videos skipping at the start and sometimes in the middle and drive sometimes slow to browse through folders. I havent added anything to it in days and its only 40% used. This never happened before as it was perfect. When I copy the skipping files to my desktop and play them they play perfectly without skipping so im guessing the files arent corrupt.

    Any suggestions/help?

Well I'd start with running a check disk.

What processes are running in the background?

Ive played music videos near the 200MB mark(insane aint it...50MB a minute!) and it would only skip if something else is gobbling up the CPU.

Nothing running in the background - all processes are necessary windows ones and the CPU usage is only 8-12% when im playing the videos

Im lost........the disk check showed nothing
