    Hi I am having a major problem with my laptop, last night all of a sudden when I started up my laptop it no longer recognised my dvd drive, it did not appear in the my computer screen, and when I checked the device manager it appeared with the warning sign beside it and has the following status
    Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)

    The Drive still turns on and ejects dvds.
    It is a Mat****a DVD- Ram Uj-845s

    My LAptop is a new Gericom 1st supersonic, it has a 1.73 ghz centrino processor,running windows xp pro.

    One possible problem is the fact, that I cant appear to remove the drive easily, it is a new kind of one where the disc tray does not eject, but raather like a Cd player inside a car you just insert the disc invthe slot.

    I would really really apreciate any help you can offer me.

    Can you see the drive in Disk Management?

    Disk Management can be accessed by right clicking on "My Computer" and selecting "Manage".

    No I could'nt but I managed to slove the probelem,

    To resolve this behavior, follow these steps:
    Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
    Locate the UpperFilters value under the following key in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
    Locate the LowerFilters value under the same key in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.

    thanks anyway.
