I want to send satellite digital picture and sound from a digibox to a plasma on the wall without wires.

can anybody recommend a small video sender that could be put out of sight behind the tv ?

I bought the €40 one from Argos. About an inch wide / four tall. Works perfectly.

I'd use a flat "ribbon" RGB SCART. Any kind of feed other than RGB, S-Video or Component degrades the picture too much for that size and kind of screen.

Length can be up to 25m for a SCART using individual coax for each signal.

    thanks guys.

i have the Argos job already. It's not possible to hide it.
can't find anything smaller than that.

the flat ribbon scart sounds like the business.

where can I buy one in Dublin ?

Check Hills Electronics (online), Radionics, Peats, Satellite.ie and Maplin.

Else P.M. me how long and I'll make a custom RGB Video and Stereo out one for you. about 1/8" (3mm) thick and 1.5" (35mm) wide.

Paint is fine. Or wallpaper wrapped and stuck around.

    Though 0.5m (18" ?) isn't very long.

I'd never have thought of looking at Screwfix! I see they have a sat meter for about £18.

    Not very good coax though.

afaik screwfix don't deliver to Ireland. I'm in the process of wall mounting a 32 inch LCD at the moment. Luckily I have plasterboard in front of brick with a gap just wide enough for a scart I hope! What kind of wall are you mounting on? If it's plaster on brick you could hire a chasing tool and use a bit of filler. This stuff http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/FXRMF1.html (available if woodies) is brilliant.

Just looking thru the Argos catalogue, they are selling 2m Flat OFC(?) Gold Plated Scart Cables for 22.99

Silly money. Also unless the connector socket is Gold too, Gold plugs will damage non-gold connectors by the Electro-potential difference and damp causing corrosion.

If the connect is not regularly unplugged, then Tin to Tin is best.

Gold is particularly damaging to Tin.

For regular (up to a couple of times a day) use Nickle is better and more durable. The thin gold on domestic connecters wears quickly.

For extremly frequent use (many times a day), bare brass is best. Brass not much good for infrequent use.

OFC is another "fashion", harmless but irrelvent to performance.

These things are just marketing spin and fashion.

Thanks for that Watty, I did not know about the tin on gold being a problem. For years i believed that getting gold plated plugs for gear was a good idea!!

here is a link in case anyone thinks I'm raving:

This one is good too. Points out that PROFESSIONAL quality gold plugs are good but ONLY with professional quality GOLD sockets.

It took seconds to find these links with Google.

OH NOOOO!!! DUDE -- DONT DO THAT!!!

    Your PLASMA deserves MORE!!!

I have a 2.6GHz video sender I got from PEATS for a whopping 250euro! - The pic quality is ok --BUT IT ONLY Supports PAL and NTSC -surely your plasma deserves more!!! get a neat little S-video or DVI cable for it!

The sound is pure crap - it is stereo but it's all hissy on high frequencies

I used it to relay The TODAY SHOW to the kitchen - and thats about all its suitable for ---(if anything walks or comes between the two antennas it goes all speckly!
