Hi all, well i am off to new york on monday, and i have decided to go with the S2 IS ( $449 excluding 8% tax From B&H ) does anyone know where i can get this cheaper/any deals going? I have no credit card, would have to be a shop in central new york. Also, im staying in the New York Hemsley, anyone know a good place near for hot dogs?:D

Have a look at www.dpreview.com and see how the models you have in mind are rated. Personally, I'd go for a Canon Powershot G6 (if you could push the budget to 530 dollars). B&H is the best camera store in New York (and possibly the world). Second best: Adorama. Avoid all others.

Cheers Carrigman, i did look them all up on DCRP, Steves, and your suggested one, but i know think the S2 IS is my best bet, it gives me more options over manual control, and with the zoom to boot. I already have a Battery charger AA, so i wont have to worry about that. Now just need to find the cheapest deal, as im pusing the budget boat out on this anyway!

don't forget you need to buy a memory card or two, spare rechargable batteries are also useful

all my gear comes from b&h

Hah, yes. Yes they will. :)

Only thing you might need is a convertor plug for the re-charger (I think it'd be ok with just the plug, anyone?). *coughs* Assuming it has rechargeable batteries with it and a recharger (I'm stuck in Nikon D50 mode).
