Im about to 'upgrade' my Dell Pc.

Im changing the case, PSU, motherboard, CPU, memory, gfx card and hard drive (using the old disc drives). Basically Im building a new Pc but for sake of transfering the Windows licence lets call it an upgrade ;).

Im going to need to install windows on the new drive and I heard somewhere that Ill need to ring up Dell for an 'unlock' code or something, do you think they'll give it to me, given the nature of the 'upgrade'?

Im not 100%, I went looking for it a while back and if memory serves it was a dell branded disc labeled "Windows re-install disc" or something like that. It did come with a sort of Microsoft flip book thing that could have had a key on it. Im not too sure. Its a bit awkward to get at it at the moment.

The keycode or oem license should be on a little sticker on your machine as well.

I think you're right about that, I have the tower recessed into a desk compartment so I cant check it (I hated explaining that one to indian dell tech).
