Help with Motor Setup

I got a motek motor from satellite.ie and i am trying to set it up. I started by aligning the dish and motor to 8w using the transponder 11.556H 27500.
The problem is that the satellite strength and quality are continously at there highest level if i move the dish and motor a few degrees left or right, so i dont know exactly where i should position the motor for it to follow the clark belt. Is there a weaker transponder that i could align the dish to on 8w to get it to follow the arc correctly?.

Using the transponder 11.556H 27500 allows the motor to follow the arc .It locks on to most satellites but the signal strength and quality are not as high as they should be ,and im afraid that the picture quality will deteriorate in heavy rain if it is not alligned correctly

What I normally do is set it for telecom first then "train" the box to tell it is on telecom, save it and continue on with all the other satellites moving the dish through the reciever only.

Yeah bigpaddy2004 thats what i was doing but the signal strength doesnt seem to be very high for astra 1 and 2 and hotbird. the signal is good for eutelw2 and hispasat and turksat

is the elevation set at 36 degrees? there are two scales on the motor so make sure you use the right one. Is the dish centred when motor is at its centre point IE 0? If your reciver has GOTO x you may find this easier

Check also the LNB skew while looking at quality.

If the dish is not square onto the motor are then the motor won't be pointing true south when at zero. If aligning on 8W, then the motor must be close to 0 (less than 1) Except on extreme East Coast as this is not close enough to 8W.

Anything other than GotoX / Usals is very painfull.
